The Dual Code Spectacular was officially launched in November 2019 when the committee harnessed a dream to provide a two-day program to showcase both the racing codes (Standardbreds and Thoroughbreds). With the backing of RWWA/OTTWA the two-day event was a huge success with near on 100 horses competing over the two days. The program was extensive and even though we experienced one of the worst heat waves in many years during the course of the weekend it was an outstanding success.

What was formerly know as our HOTY year show in previous years for our breed and was incorporated into the two-day program with the added inclusion of the OTTWA Classics as the premier class to end the weekend in 2017.

Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions we elected not to run the event in 2020 that also gave us a little more time to fine tune the programming, date and venue and concept to be suitably condensed into a one-day event.

23rd May 2021 at the immaculate Perth Polo grounds saw the revamped Dual Code/OTTWA Classic feature take place with everyone congratulating us on all of the above changes.

This event will continue to grow in showcasing the two racing codes in Led and Ridden in the morning Dual Code Program and then the lucrative OTTWA Classic in the afternoon. We are very fortunate to have the support of our major sponsor for both these codes in OTTWA and providing the wonderful prize money that is on offer.

As an added attraction we have included the Partbred Thoroughbreds to the program where they are able to compete in the morning Dual Code program and they also now compete in an Ultimate Ridden Classic along the same concept as the OTTWA Classics for the racing codes. As they are not eligible for the OTTWA sponsorship prize money, their classic is funded by outside sponsors.
