The Scorecard Showdown was introduced onto the SPPHAWA showing calendar  in 2023 to offer competitors a different format of judging the breed. With an Eastern States accredited panel judge engaged who was well conversed to this style of judging, the scorecard consisted of 6 components for each exhibit to be scored on, comprising of Head/Forequarter, Body/Hindquarter, Legs/Feet, Movement, Correctness of Gait and Type/Quality. Each component carried a score of 20 points with these all being added to give an overall score out of 120. The highest score determined the Champions/ Reserves and placings in all sections including Supreme.

In its inaugural year, the Scorecard system was only used for the Pure Bred Standardbred Led section, with the committee looking to expand this format to include the Partbreds and Ridden in time to come. The new concept was well received by all with each horse being given the time to be individually assessed and scored. The Scorecard's were made available to each competitor on request after the event for their reference.
